Meet the Commoner

Laney Underwood is a lover of food, always curious about expanding her taste buds. Born and raised in Texas, she is now a student at UT Austin and has spent her college days exploring the food scene that the state capital has to offer. Being a student and a lover of food however, sets her apart from no one and so thus she is essentially nothing but ‘the common eater’. This title, though simple, makes her incredibly relatable and she by no means is claiming authority over the topics she writes on. Laney purely wants to share her experiences and love for food with any interested browser.

Her love connection with food was tethered a long time ago, but in Spring 2017 after enrolling in “Rhetoric of Food” at UT, this bond was sealed. The class has provided knowledge on food writing, reading, food genres, and has allowed Laney, the student, to gain a deeper appreciation for everything that is of the food world. This blog is a final product of this course where she is able to freely express the food happenings of her life.
